On March 5, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 17th match of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. This win was special because DC broke CSK’s winning streak at their home ground after 15 long years.

Axar Reveals The Real Reason

DC’s captain, Axar Patel, was happy with the team’s third straight win but admitted it wasn’t easy. He praised his entire team for playing well and said the team looks well-balanced this season.

However, Axar revealed he didn’t bowl much in the match because he’s dealing with a finger injury.

"I didn't expect it to be easy (on winning three on the bounce). Everyone contributed, the team balance looks good. Feels good as a captain to win three out of three. I was saving myself (on not bowling much today) and I also have an injured finger. Every match, there are some great catches and some drops as well. As a captain, I don't think we have played a perfect match yet. IPL is a long tournament, the momentum can swing anytime," Axar said after the match.

Delhi Capitals Register Third Win In IPL 2025

DC won the toss and decided to bat first. KL Rahul played a brilliant knock, scoring 77 runs off 51 balls, and with help from other batters, DC put up 183 runs on the board in their 20 overs.

In the second half, DC bowlers kept things tight and didn’t allow CSK’s batters to get going. Everyone bowled economically and kept the pressure on. CSK’s Vijay Shankar was the top scorer for his team with 69* off 54 balls, but his slow innings wasn’t enough to chase the target.

This was DC’s third win in a row under their new captain, Axar Patel. They’re looking in great form and will now face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their next match.
