In the ongoing IPL 2025 match between CSK and DC at the Chepauk stadium, the Men in Yellow are in deep trouble as they have lost two wickets in the powerplay while chasing 184 runs.
Notably, Mukesh Kumar and Mitchell Starc struck with the new ball as Kumar drew the first blood while Starc got the big fish Ruturaj Gaikwad out in his 2nd over of the match. Notably, the Aussie seamer had a chance to take another wicket in the open and get rid of Vijay Shankar in the same over. However, Abhishek Porel's blunder from behind the stumps denied Starc his wicket.
Did Porel's Keeping Blunder End His Keeping Duties vs CSK?
On the 5th ball of the 3rd over, Starc bowled a lethal yorker that hit Vijay on his foot. There was a huge appeal, but the umpire was unmoved by the loud cry. Starc was confident and also looked at Abishek Porel, who insisted Axar Patel not opt for a review as he thought there was an inside edge.
However, the replay showed that there was no edge, and it was a clear-out. Meanwhile, new visuals emerged right after the over as Abishek Porel was replaced by KL Rahul behind the wickets.
The fans thought that the blunder proved to be costly for Porel and as a punishment, he was removed from keeping duties. However, for the unversed, KL Rahul was the designated keeper for DC, but he was unavialabe on the field for the first few overs, which is why Porel kept the gloves in his absence.
Thus, Porel was not removed because of that blunder, but KL Rahul returned to the field and took over the keeping role.
