Tanvir Ahmed, a former Pakistan fast bowler who played five Tests, three ODIs, and one T20I for the country, could not hold back while criticising Waqar Younis, one of the country’s all-time greats.

Waqar, who was recently appointed as the adviser of Pakistan’s Selection Committee chief, and the reaction from Tanvir came after the PCB confirmed the updated Pakistan squad for the first Test against Bangladesh.

There, Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam, who were previously picked, won’t be there, and that triggered Tanvir to take a brutal attack on Waqar.

Having taken 38 wickets in six Tests, Abrar has already established himself as an useful weapon for Pakistan. However, they decided to go with an all-pace attack, which left Abrar to play for Pakistan Shaheens during the Test match in Rawalpindi.

Tanvir Ahmed Attacks Waqar Younis

"Did you all see? Waqar Younis and the selection committee have removed Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam from the Test matches against Bangladesh. The remaining state of Pakistan cricket will be ruined by Waqar Younis," Tanvir posted on X (in regional language).

Further, Tanvir called out Waqar, asking him to give clarity on why exactly they were dropped.

"Shame on this third-class selection committee that dropped Abrar and Kamran Ghulam from the team. Where is Waqar Younis, who parades around as a great legend? How have these two been dropped?" he added.

Notably, the first Test will begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, while the second Test, which was initially planned to take place in Karachi, will now be played in Rawalpindi instead, from August 30 onwards.
