The ongoing first Test between South Africa and India at Centurion has seen two masterclass batting displays by KL Rahul and Dean Elgar. While Rahul singlehandedly held India's first innings together, scoring 101, Elgar demonstrated control and command over the art of batting on Day 2.

Elgar, who has already announced his retirement post the ongoing two-Test series against India, slammed his 14th Test ton, which enabled the hosts to overcome the visitors' first innings score of 245 and head into Day 3 with a slender 11-run lead.

As quoted by NDTVSports, Elgar, speaking in the presser, maintained that his performance was all about going out with a bang and had nothing to do with proving anyone wrong.

Here's what Dean Elgar said

"I don't think I wanted to prove any point. Just that I wanted to go out with a bang as that is standard I set for myself as there's no looking back now. It was quite a good wicket to bat on. Had there been more sun, it would have been tougher. It's just that it's been my way. Could have been another batter another day. Normally known for his defensive dogged approach, Elgar wanted to look to score runs."

The former Proteas captain also lauded debutant David Bedingham's outing with the bat, where the middle-order batter scored 56 off 87.
