One of the main reasons behind Pakistan's inability to win has lately been their sloppy fielding effort, which is a constant in the ongoing three-match Test series against Australia Down Under.

In the ongoing second Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Pakistan, from a position of strength, managed to let go of their hold over the match on Day 3 in the second session of play.

Having reduced Australia to 16 for four, Pakistan's catching let them down once again. Abdullah Shafique, who is having a poor time in the slips, dropped a sitter in the first slip position after Aamer Jamal included an outside edge of Mitchell Marsh's bat while the all-rounder was on 20.

Marsh, since being dropped has managed to slam his seventh Test fifty, and has along with Steve Smith managed to take Australia out of a pickle.

Former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh, regarded as one of the best slip-fielders in the world ended up taking a jibe at Shafique for his skills while doing commentary.

"Like a crocodile jaw trying to take a catch. Get him out of there. I wouldn’t be relaxed if I was relying on Shafique! I would be like a seagull on a hot chip! There is one bloke, you wouldn’t be relaxing standing next to. Sorry Shafique! At this moment he is a back-stop."

Interestingly, this was Shafique's third dropped catch of the Test. Riding on the missed chance, Marsh showcased his batting prowess yet again in the series, pushing Pakistan on the back foot. As of writing, the hosts are 151 for four, with Marsh and Smith batting on 82* and 45*, respectively.
