India began day 2 at 208/8, with KL Rahul at 70* and Mohammed Siraj unbeaten in the middle. Rahul impressed with a remarkable hundred (101 runs off 137 balls), becoming the second Indian wicket-keeper, after Rishabh Pant, to achieve a Test century in South Africa. 

India finished their innings at 245, with Kagiso Rabada taking 5 wickets for 59 runs in 20 overs, and well supported by Nandre Burger.

Dean Elgar Show Puts SA in a Strong Position

South Africa kicked off their innings with Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar. However, an early setback occurred when Siraj dismissed Markram for 11 in just 3.5 overs. Tony de Zorzi joined Elgar at number 3, contributing to a solid 93-run partnership. 

Elgar, surpassing 50, remained focused despite losing partners. Jasprit Bumrah's delivery claimed Keegan Petersen, making it 113/3. Undeterred, Elgar and David Bedingham built a robust partnership, with South Africa reaching 200, and Elgar securing his 14th Test century, a significant achievement in his farewell series against India.

Bedingham, after a well-made 56, fell to Siraj, leaving South Africa at 244/4. Wicket-keeper batter Kyle Verreynne, joining Elgar, managed only 4 runs before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna at 249/5, giving South Africa a 4-run lead. 

Marco Jansen came in at number 7 to support Elgar. At the day's end due to bad light similar to Day 1, South Africa stood at 256/5, leading by 11 runs.

Dean Elgar emerged as the standout performer of the day. With Marco Jansen, they are set to resume South Africa's innings on day 3.
