In an emotional moment for all cricket fans, more so for Australians, opener David Warner could not end his final Test innings in style at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, scoring just six against Pakistan in the ongoing second Test.

Warner came out to bat with Australia leading by 54 runs and departed in the second session of play on Day 3, where the explosive opener found himself bowled off Mir Hamza. In an attempt to pull a short ball, Warner played the shot early as the ball took an inside edge and rattled the middle stump over.

Warner, 36, could be seen acknowledging the MCG crowd for the last time in whites while heading back to the dressing room, with almost everyone in the stadium applauding the legend for his services.

Part-time spinner Agha Salman got the better of Warner on Day 1, wherein, in the first innings, the left-hander scored a sturdy 83-ball 38, including three fours under testing conditions.

In 11 Tests between 2000 and 2023, Warner slammed 912 runs at MCG, with three centuries, including a career-extending 200 against South Africa last year. Interestingly, the southpaw made his T20I debut for Australia back in 2009 against South Africa at MCG, where he struck a dazzling 43-ball 89.

The upcoming third Test at Sydney will be Warner's final outing in whites, as he will hang up his boots from the purest format afterwards.
