Nitish Kumar Reddy’s admiration for Virat Kohli is no secret. The young cricketer has often expressed his deep affection and respect for the Indian cricket legend.

It has been a memorable past year for Reddy, who hasn't only impressed with his potential but went on to play and deliver impactful performances for India. He scored his maiden Test century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which was a moment of pure joy for him, but what made it even more special was a gesture from his idol, Virat Kohli, before that monumental innings.

From Idol's Special Gift To Maiden Test Ton

While speaking in a podcast with Puma recently, Reddy revealed a heartwarming episode that unfolded in the dressing room, where his idol, Kohli, gifted him a pair of shoes which he wore during his maiden Test century.

“Back in the locker room, he (Kohli) once asked Sarfaraz about his shoe size? and he said, '9' then he turned to me, and I thought, Oh my god, I have to guess this correctly because even if they were not my size, I really wanted his shoes. Then I said, 10 and he gave them to me. Later in the next match, I wore those shoes and scored a hundred,” Reddy said.

Reddy has always looked up to Kohli, and this special moment will surely stay in his heart forever. His maiden Test century was the highlight of the series for the 21-year-old, but doing it while wearing his idol’s pair of shoes made it a story to remember.

This moment reflects the kind of camaraderie and inspiration shared within the Indian team, with veterans like Kohli continuing to set an example for the next generation, not just on the field, but off the field as well with such priceless moments.

Currently, Reddy has made a comeback from a minor injury and will be in action for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025.
