Former Indian Cricketer and current mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Zaheer Khan had a reunion with the famous lover fan after 20 long years ahead of the forthcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). The lovely moment was shared by LSG in their social media handles.

If we turn back the clock to 2005, in what was a high-intensity Test match between India and Pakistan, a passionate female fan of Zaheer stole the spotlight from the crowd. Amid the high-octane atmosphere, the fan girl was captured with a brightly colored placard saying, “Zaheer I Love You”, resonating her affection towards India’s star bowler.

Zaheer's Return To A Forgotten Romance

Her love and affection for Zaheer became the major talking point amongst the commentators and the players, including Zaheer and his teammates who were sitting inside the dressing room. Indian players, especially Yuvraj Singh could not help but tease Zaheer which eventually led him to send a spontaneous flying kiss towards the stands.

The charming gesture left the fan girl visibly shy and blushing, turning it a memorable moment for both team and the fans watching that game till date. Coming back to the present, the iconic moment was recreated by LSG when their mentor Zaheer arrived ahead of the IPL 2025.

In a video posted by LSG, Zaheer was seen stepping out of his car to a grand welcome, greeted by franchise officials and a fan girl holding the iconic “Zaheer I Love You” placard, recreating a reunion between Zaheer and his lover fan girl.


Zaheer noticed the placard and could not help but give a nostalgic smile upon the reunion. The clip instantly went viral as fans could not resist reliving the moment. The recreation of this beautiful moment not only delighted long time cricket lovers but also reelected the timeless affection fans have for their heroes.

Bowling Genius Joins LSG

Coming to the IPL 2025, Zaheer Khan was announced as LSG mentor back in August 2024 ahead of the mega auction. He had replaced Gautam Gambhir who left the position as LSG mentor after IPL 2023.

This appointment marks the return of Zaheer in a coaching role in the IPL after a gap of two years. The 46-year-old was previously involved with Mumbai Indians first as director of cricket and then head of global development between 2018 and 2022.

Zaheer is also expected to take on the bowling coach role after Morne Morkel left the side to join the Indian men’s team last year. Having been part of IPL-winning setups in the past, Zaheer’s experience as a mentor will be invaluable for the Lucknow franchise to clinch their maiden title this year.
