Wearing the national whites is every young cricketer’s dream, but only a few turn that dream into reality, and an even rarer few reach the monumental milestone of 100 Test matches. Where batters dream of this, veteran Bangladeshi batter Mushfiqur Rahim turned it into reality.

In the iconic Test match, he grabbed all the limelight with a stunning century and a crucial half-century. Crowned Player of the Match, he revealed his hunger for even more opportunities on the field.

Mushfiqur has more to offer to Bangladesh

In the history of Bangladesh cricket, Mushfiqur Rahim has been a living legend. Making his Test debut against England in 2005, the veteran Bangladeshi player just played the 100th Test match of his career against Ireland as Bangladesh registered a massive win. Standing on that milestone of his career, he scored a century in the first innings, followed by an unbeaten 53-run knock in the second innings.

With that absolute masterclass, Mushfiqur Rahim earned the Player of the Match award. Receiving the honor, the Bangladeshi batter opened up about his desire to extend his career for Bangladesh.

“I want to play more. I really enjoyed each and every moment. I feel very lucky to have played 100 matches, and I enjoyed every second of it,” Rahim said.

Mushfiqur stays true to team over personal glory

Over the years, Mushfiqur Rahim has delivered some of the masterclasses for the side and continues to do so. Carving his legacy, he became the first-ever Bangladeshi batter to play 100 Test matches. Even after years of stellar contributions, he remained selfless, emphasizing his duty to guide the next generation of stars.

“Really lucky to share this dressing room, and in the near future we will have a great team. As someone who started as a young player and is no longer young, it's one of my responsibilities to guide the youngsters. I just try my level best, and I hope they learn a lot—not just from me but from all the other players. I also need to get some colour off the new cap,” he added.

His heroics in the 100th Test match stunned the world, and he entered the elite list. With a brilliant century and a crucial half-century, he became the only second player after Ricky Ponting to achieve such a feat of scoring atleast half-centuries in both innings in a landmark 100th Test.
