The classic red ball thrills are now just a few hours apart as Shubman Gill’s Team India is all set to face England in the first Test match of the five-match Test series. As Team India is returning in the longest format after a brief break, fans are expecting some unmissable thrills.

With Shubman Gill making his captaincy debut on English soil, the buzz is in full swing. At the pre-match press conference, when questioned about his leadership style, Gill’s sharp and confident response stole the spotlight.

Gill’s Sharp Clapback Steals The Show

After Rohit Sharma retired from the longest format last month, Shubman Gill stepped into his shoes and is now all set to lead the Indian side in the longest format. Starting a captaincy career in the challenging English conditions is tough, but Gill looked confident. His sharp reply when asked about his leadership style quickly stole the spotlight.

In the pre-match press conference, an English journalist asked, “What sort of style of play will we see under your captaincy from India? Are you inspired by what ‘bazzball’ has done for England in the last few years?”

Answering that, Gill comes up with a sharp reply. The Indian Test skipper said, “I think you're gonna have to wait till August to see what kind of style that's going to be.” That sharp reply grabbed the attention.

What Will Be Team India’s Playing XI?

As the first Test match of the series is just a sleep away, England has announced their playing XI. But Team India is yet to take the call. Speculation is swirling over who will make their way. According to the Times Of India, skipper Shubman Gill dropped a major hint about India’s possible XI for the first Test.

“We have one or two different combinations ready. Will have a look at the pitch and take the call,” Gill said.

On June 20, India and England will cross swords at Headingley in the first Test match of the series. The entire world is waiting to see some captain’s knocks from Shubman Gill on English turf.
