Sachin Tendulkar has shared some valuable tips for the travelling Indian team in England ahead of their five-match Test series. Tendulkar, who himself made numerous Test trips to England, urged Indian batters to be wary of three crucial factors.

The former Indian cricketer believes that batters will eventually enter phases where they will find it very difficult to play shots against the swinging ball. Emphasizing the importance of identifying such phases, Tendulkar said that it is important for batters to leave the balls correctly to capitalize on the surface when the sun comes out.

Tendulkar Says Leaving Ball ‘Not A Defensive Act’ In ENG

Former cricketer and all-time great Sachin Tendulkar asked India’s current batting line-up in England to be wary of three factors, namely the overhead conditions, the air quality and the pitch condition. During an exclusive interview with prominent journalist Boria Majumdar for RevSportz, Tendulkar said:

"In England you always keep three things in mind when you play. First, the overhead conditions. Second the air quality and third the pitch condition. Each one of these factors influence how you should play. There will be phases of play when you will find it very difficult to play shots. So you need to be careful and identify such phases."

Sachin Tendulkar also signified the importance of leaving the balls correctly on tough English surfaces. He urged Shubman Gill and co. to bide their time at the crease, before they can capitalize once the sun comes out. He added:

“It is not a defensive act to leave balls. Rather, it is also a show of intent to be able to correctly leave balls and play for the right time. And then when the sun is out it is a beautiful track to bat on where the batters can score a lot of runs.”

Team India will face England from June 20 onwards at Headingley in Leeds for the series-opening first Test. The series not only marks India’s first Test assignment since the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but also their first in the ongoing 2025-27 WTC cycle.
