One of the biggest names in Indian and global cricket, Virat Kohli has been missing in action since Afghanistan's tour of India and is busy with family obligations with the birth of his son, Akaay Kohli.

Currently in the United Kingdom with his family, Kohli's participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) becomes highly crucial given it will help the Indian selectors to pick squad for the soon-to-start T20 World Cup 2024.

However, a senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official has confirmed that Kohli will indeed feature in the IPL for Royal Challengers Banglalore (RCB) while providing no proper date for his return.

As quoted by InsideSport, the BCCI personnel stated that the IPL will play a massive role in the selection of India's T20 WC squad, which will be played in the USA and West Indies.

'As far as we know, he will play IPL' - BCCI Official

“As far as we know, he will play IPL. But when is Virat joining squad is up to him and his franchise. We haven’t heard from him as he is on a break. For sure, IPL will play a massive role in selection of all players.”

Meanwhile, support staff and players for RCB have already started to gather for the cash-rich tournament, which commences from March 22, and will see Kohli's franchise in the opening clash against defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
