AB de Villiers' love story with RCB and Virat Kohli is well known to Indian cricket fans. However, the South African great found himself in a tricky spot when Shubhankar Mishra posed a sharp question comparing two cricketing legends.

During a podcast session on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube channel, ABD was asked to choose between the 'Great' Sachin Tendulkar and the 'Great' Virat Kohli. His response leaned slightly in favour of his friend.

AB de Villiers Chooses Between The Greats!

While answering a rapid-fire round on Mishra's podcast, de Villiers was asked the question of choosing between Kohli and Tendulkar, to which ABD started diplomatically.

"Is there any comparison? You can't compare different generations. Impossible to compare. Both were absolutely outstanding in their generation during the era," de Villiers said.

While elaborating on the comparison, AB de Villiers admitted that Tendulkar was his idol when he was young. He also shared how Kohli is an 'all-format great' while Tendulkar is a 'longer format' king, according to him.

"I have a lot of respect for Sachin. He is down-to-earth, and I sort of looked up to him. Virat's more my friend. So very difficult. I think Virat was an all-format great player. Sachin may be in the longer format," ABD added.

While speaking on the podcast, ABD also shared his plight with Indian pace star Jasprit Bumrah. When Mishra asked him, "Who is the toughest bowler you have ever faced?", de Villiers responded, "Bumrah".

"He is one of the greatest bowlers I have ever played against. He never troubled me too much, but I faced him at his peak," ABD added.

ABD Shines In WCL 2025

AB de Villiers, the captain of South Africa Champions, had an absolute beast of a season in WCL 2025 as they lifted the trophy after defeating Pakistan in the final match of WCL 2025. ABD specifically was a spectacle. He registered a whopping 120 in the final off just 60 balls and garnered 431 runs in the tournament in just 6 innings at an astonishing average of 143.67.

His three explosive centuries in the tournament and strike rate of 221.03 still sparks fresh buzz of him coming out of retirement to play international T20s.
