Rohit Sharma and his team secured a commanding 280-run victory against Bangladesh in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. However, while the team celebrated the win, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali, known for his outspoken personality, warned young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Basit Ali raised his voice on Jaiswal's shot selection and concerns despite his gritty display in the first innings. In the first Test match, Jaiswal contributed a determined 56 off 118 balls. However, in the second innings, he was dismissed for 10 off 17 balls.

Basit Ali Criticises Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Shot Selection

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former Pakistani cricketer praised India's overall performance but had special suggestion and critical advice for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He expressed disappointment with Jaiswal's shot selection, particularly in both innings, when Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana dismissed him.

"Yashasvi Jaiswal played bonker shots in both the innings. For me, this match is zero for Jaiswal. He is my favourite as well. But usko seekhna chahiye, ab nahi sikhega toh kab seekhega (He should learn. If he doesn't learn now when will he?)," said Basit Ali on his YouTube channel.

The right-arm fast bowler, Nahid Rana, dismissed Jaiswal in both the innings with his class and perfection. He trapped him with a short-of-length delivery caught at first slip in the first innings. In the second innings, Jaiswal was caught driving at a fuller delivery that edged to wicketkeeper Litton Das.

"When you have the form, grab it. Don't get out playing playing poor shots. This is a matter of worry for India," he added.

Basit Ali said that the Indian southpaw needs to utilize the chances he is getting. The second Test match will be played at Kanpur on September 27, at Green Park Stadium.
