Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Asif has made a stark prediction about the future of the Pakistan cricket team and suggested that they may face another defeat at the hands of the USA in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Mohammad Asif shared his thoughts during an appearance on the YouTube podcast 'The Nakash Khan Show,' where he criticised the current state of Pakistan cricket.

The reason for Pakistan's failure could be due to the turmoil within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), ongoing locker-room issues, and the overall decline in team performance as contributing factors.

“We lost to the USA, who are playing in the T20 World Cup for the first time. They didn’t even qualify, they played because they were the hosts. The way the situation is going at this moment, the USA will beat Pakistan in the next World Cup, in 2026. I’ll guarantee you that,” Asif said on the YouTube podcast ‘The Nakash Khan Show’.

He expressed his concerns about the team's current state and boldly predicted that Pakistan would once again suffer defeat at the hands of the USA.

Pakistan Cricket Facing Difficult Time In Recent Past

Pakistan cricket has been under scrutiny due to a series of underwhelming performances across different formats in recent times.

The team, led by Babar Azam, has struggled to live up to expectations and faced several setbacks that have raised concerns about their form and future as Pakistan failed to advance to the semi-finals in 2023 ODI World Cup.

The situation further deteriorated during the 2024 T20 World Cup, where Pakistan's campaign got off to a disastrous start with a shocking defeat to the USA, a non-Test-playing nation.

As if these setbacks weren't enough, Pakistan's recent defeat to Bangladesh in the Rawalpindi Test compounded their misery.

This string of disappointing results has put the team under intense scrutiny, with fans and critics alike questioning the leadership, strategy, and overall direction of Pakistan cricket.
