Zaheer Khan has been appointed as the new LSG mentor and KL Rahul too has been confirmed to lead the franchise in the next season despite rumours of his dispute with the owners. 

So, it would be once again the Indian mentor-captain duo that will carry the burden of the franchise, and it would be interesting to see how the combo achieves the desired result in IPL 2025.

As far as Zaheer Khan is concerned, his expertise is second to none, and after his appointment as LSG mentor, his old remark on KL Rahul is grabbing attention. In January 2024, after KL Rahul's impressive Test century on South African soil, Zaheer claimed that this is KL Rahul 2.0. 

KL Rahul's Unfortunate Tryst With Injuries

The pacer stated that KL Rahul has always got injured at the wrong time and whenever he gets close to getting to his peak form, injuries tend to hamper his progress.

“If we look at Rahul’s career, he has had a lot of injury concerns. There have been times when he has been injured while hitting peak form and he hasn't been able to capitalise on this form, something you require in international cricket. But looking at the recent past, with the successful World Cup campaign and the South Africa series, we can say this is a 2.0 version of Rahul."

The remarks show how highly Zaheer rates KL Rahul as a batter, and LSG fans would be hoping that the duo delivers positive results on the cricket field in the next edition of the Indian Premier League.
