South Africa’s young star Dewald Brevis has shared a heartfelt farewell message after finishing his IPL 2025 season with Chennai Super Kings. Brevis thanked the management, teammates, and fans for their support and wished to be back in yellow colours.
Brevis had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction and joined CSK halfway through the season as a replacement for pacer Gurjapneet Singh, who was injured. He scored 225 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 180, with an average of 37.50.
His aggressive middle-order batting gave CSK a much-needed boost in what was otherwise a tough season.
Dewald Brevis Pens Emotional Farewell To CSK, But With A Twist
After CSK ended their IPL 2025 season campaign with an 83-run win over GT, Dewald Brevis penned an emotional note on social media. He also shared a special picture with MS Dhoni acknowledging his appreciation for the legendary cricketer.
Brevis expressed gratitude to the CSK management, his teammates and fans for their consistent support, while hoping to be back soon in the yellow jersey.
Despite the brilliant performances he produced, CSK ended up finishing bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, winning only 4 matches from 14, their worst-ever record. However, the inclusion of Brevis, Ayush Mhatre, and Urvil Patel brought energy and promise to the team.
Chennai now has the chance to keep Brevis before the IPL 2026 mini-auction, and fans are already eager to get the young sensation back in yellow colours next year.
Brevis Left IPL With A Record Inning
In CSK’s last league game against GT, Dewald Brevis lit up the Narendra Modi Stadium with a blazing 19-ball fifty. He became the joint second-fastest to reach the mark for CSK in IPL history, surpassing MS Dhoni’s 20-ball record. While coming in at No. 5, the South African player clubbed 57 off only 23 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. His thunderous innings propelled CSK to a total of 230 runs in their final league game of IPL 2025, which turned into an 83-run win.
