Young batter Dewald Brevis starred with the bat for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their 14th group-stage game against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium. Coming at number five, Brevis hammered a blistering fifty of just 19 balls, registering the second-fastest fifty for CSK in IPL history.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, CSK had a fabulous start to their innings, with Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel playing quick-fire cameos. Although Shivam Dube got out cheaply, Devon Conway kept CSK alive in the game with a steady half-century.

He dominated the GT bowlers all through his innings, eventually bringing up his half-century in just 19 deliveries. This is the joint second-fastest fifty by a CSK player in IPL, with Suresh Raina claiming the top spot, courtesy of his 16-ball half-century against Punjab Kings.

Fastest Fifties For CSK In IPL History

  • Suresh Raina - 16 balls
  • Moeen Ali - 19 balls
  • Ajinkya Rahane - 19 balls
  • Dewald Brevis - 19 balls
  • MS Dhoni - 20 balls
  • Ambati Rayudu - 20 balls

Soon after completing his half-century, Brevis fell prey to Prasidh Krishna, who got him out for 57 runs. His thunderous knock, studded with four boundaries and five sixes, ensured a mammoth total for CSK.

Dramatic Entry Of Dewald Brevis In IPL 2025

Hailed for his scintillating stroke-play, Dewald Brevis initially went unsold in last year's mega auction. However, an unfortunate injury to Gurjapneet Singh led to his signing, as the Super Kings roped him into their team as the fast bowler's replacement.

His inclusion worked wonders for CSK, with the batter forming a solid core with Mhatre and Urvil Patel. He finishes the IPL 2025 with 225 runs in just six outings at an average of 37.50 and a strike rate of 180.
