Adam Gilchrist picks his all-time IPL XI (Source:@Are_Sambha,x.com)
Legendary Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist has announced his all-time Indian Premier League (IPL) XI, but with a unique condition: only players who have lifted the IPL trophy during their careers are eligible.
Unveiled recently on Cricbuzz, Gilchrist’s 'winners-only' dream team features big names from the league’s two most dominant franchises Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
CSK, MI Players Dominate The XI
The former player named CSK stalwart MS Dhoni as the captain of this lineup. Joining Dhoni are his trusted CSK teammates Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. From the Mumbai Indians’ he picked five-time title-winning skipper Rohit Sharma, explosive batter Suryakumar Yadav, West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, and the lethal pace duo of Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah.
The only Australian in the XI is David Warner. Known for his consistency and aggressive style, Warner remains one of the top all-time run-scorers in the tournament.
From the KKR, Gilchrist selected mystery spinner Sunil Narine, known for his game-changing spells and pinch-hitting ability. Completing the bowling unit is swing specialist Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Kohli Misses Out Despite Stellar Record
In what may be seen as a shocking omission, Gilchrist left out all time IPL leading run-scorer Virat Kohli. While he has lit up the league with his batting exploits for RCB, the absence of an IPL trophy in his cabinet meant he did not qualify for Gilchrist’s “champions-only” criteria.
Gilchrist’s team comprises seven Indians, two West Indians, one Sri Lankan, and one Australian.
