An international debut may well be on the cards for young Punjab Kings star Priyansh Arya, as national T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav took note of his Mullanpur epic against CSK on Tuesday, April 8. Shortly after Arya’s dismissal, Suryakumar took to his Instagram account to share a picture of the youngster. In the caption, Yadav wrote:

“What a knock. Treat to eyes.”

Priyansh Arya started off his innings with a huge six off CSK’s new ball fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed. Despite losing opening partner early in the game, and losing five of Punjab Kings’ top-order and middle-order batters within the first eight overs, Arya remained defiant in his six-hitting approach.

The cricketer took a special liking to senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and CSK fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana on his way to tonking a 39-ball century, one of the fastest in IPL history.

Arya’s innings, coupled with Shashank Singh’s unbeaten half-century and a hasty Marco Jansen cameo helped Punjab Kings mount 219-6 from 20 overs after winning the toss.
