The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has a new superstar and his name is Priyansh Arya. The Punjab Kings opener turn the tides and lit up the IPL stage with a scintillating 39-ball century against the Chennai Super Kings. This was the fastest hundred-ever scored by an uncapped player.
Punjab now has a gem on their hands, but it is fair to say that someone's gain is another one's loss and here Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fumbled big time by not bidding enough to purchase his services in the mega auction.
How RCB fumbled in IPL mega auction
Priyansh Arya first made a name for himself when he announced his arrival with 6 sixes in the Delhi Premier League, last year. He gained attention prior to the auction and teams were interested in buying him with Delhi Capitals and RCB in a tussle.
DC first bid for him as the INR 30 lakh player started the bidding war. PBKS, soon got involved as it turned out to be a two-way race. Suddenly, RCB got involved as the price rose to over 1 crore. However, despite going hard for the opener, RCB backed out for some reason as Punjab got their man for INR 3.80 crore.
RCB definitely needed a strong and aggressive Indian batter in their ranks to support Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, but they missed out and PBKS took advantage and are now reaping the rewards as Priyansh showed his class with a century against CSK.
