On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were crowned the IPL 2024 champions, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the final, KKR secured an emphatic eight-wicket win over SRH by successfully chasing a modest target of 114 runs.

Pat Cummins led SRH to an excellent run until the final. Under his leadership, the Orange Army recaptured the form similar to their prime Warner-Williamson era. The main reason for this impressive comeback is Pat Cummins' leadership.

In the post-game presentation, Cummins opened up about the reasons behind their defeat, revealing it was an incredible journey for himself.

"It was a tricky wicket. If we got 160, we felt we would have been in the game. So many (positives), the style with which the guys played especially with the bat. Lot of skills to get to 250 three times. I loved how brave the guys were. It was a lot of fun, great season,", said Cummins after game.

Cummins has built a solid foundation for SRH's future. The foundation laid this year can yield significant rewards in the coming seasons, ensuring sustained success and competitiveness.

KKR outclass SRH to lift IPL 2024 trophy

In the final game, SRH opted to bat first, replicating their strategy against RR in qualifier two, where they had successfully defended their score on the same ground. However, KKR's bowlers exploited the new ball's swing and dismissed SRH's in-form batters early.

Mitchell Starc was a standout performer for KKR, taking two wickets and earning the Player of the Match award.

Except for Pat Cummins' fight at the end, none of the SRH batters showed intent to resist. Andre Russell was also exceptional with the ball, claiming three wickets. In response, SRH couldn't mount a challenge.

Despite Narine's early dismissal by Cummins, Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz helped KKR comfortably chase the target in 10.3 over and clinch their third IPL title.
