It is never easy to say goodbye, especially after a season full of ups, downs, and missed chances. CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana took to Instagram to drop an emotional message after wrapping up his IPL 2025 campaign, which didn’t go to plan, either for him or the Men in Yellow.
Pathirana Thanks CSK Fans After Forgettable Season
The Sri Lankan speedster, known for his slingy action and toe-crushing yorkers, had a season to forget, much like his team. Chennai Super Kings finished at the bottom of the table, winning just 4 of their 14 games, their worst-ever IPL finish.
Posting a series of photos in yellow, Pathirana kept it real with a message that hit fans right in the feels.
“Not the season we hoped for – both personally and as a team. But through the highs and lows, one thing remained constant: the love and support from the Chennai fans,” he wrote.
He went on to thank the CSK management and fans for backing him even when things didn’t click.
“Thank you for believing in me even when things didn’t go our way. Your loyalty and positivity meant everything. I’ll keep working harder, and I’m truly grateful to be part of this family.”

Forgettable Season For Pathirana
After impressing in earlier seasons, much was expected from Matheesha Pathirana in IPL 2025 after he was retained by CSK for INR 13 crore. But this year, he just couldn’t find his rhythm.
He managed to bag just 13 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 32.61 and a horrendous economy of 10.13. His radar was off more often than not. The pace was there, but the control wasn’t. He bowled far too many wides and often struggled to close out overs, something CSK heavily relied on him for in past editions.
Despite the numbers, Pathirana’s message shows maturity beyond his years. Owning up, thanking fans and promising to bounce back, that is the kind of attitude that keeps players rooted even when the chips are down. And knowing CSK’s legacy, comebacks are just part of the script.
The slinger from Sri Lanka is down but definitely not out. Expect him to come back stronger, sharper and hungrier in IPL 2026.
