RCB will take on PBKS in qualifier 1 [Source: AP]
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had a terrific day on the field, as they steamrolled Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a high-scoring thriller and made a grand entry into Qualifier 1. The in-form Royal Challengers, who scripted history by winning seven away games on the trot, will take on Punjab Kings in a high-voltage contest at Mullanpur Stadium in New Chandigarh.
Led by Shreyas Iyer, PBKS have showcased remarkable form in the tournament, securing the top spot with nine wins in fourteen outings. So, considering RCB can give them a run for their money, a nail-biter is expected in Chandigarh. However, what happens if RCB vs PBKS ends without a result?
What If RCB vs PBKS Qualifier 1 Gets Abandoned?
To start with, the weather forecast for qualifier 1 looks promising, with AccuWeather predicting just around ten per cent chances of precipitation.
However, if the weather Gods don't stay kind and a downpour leads to the abandonment of the clash, PBKS will pip RCB and enter the final of the competition, as they finished higher in the group-stage points table.
It's worth mentioning that there's no reserve day for the qualifier 1. So, RCB wouldn't want rain to play spoilsport in this match. On the contrary, Punjab Kings will happily take a washout, as it will help them enter the final after a long eleven-year hiatus.
It was the 2014 edition of the IPL when Punjab Kings featured in the final of the lucrative tournament. Despite Wriddhiman Saha's blistering knock, the Kings suffered a heartbreaking defeat, with Kolkata Knight Riders emerging victorious and securing their second IPL title.
Meanwhile, RCB have played the final thrice, ending up on the losing side on all three occasions. Thus, both teams would be desperate to end their title drought and add the elusive trophy to their cabinet.
