On Monday, July 29, India completed one month of winning the 2024 T20 World Cup when they defeated South Africa in a tense final in Barbados. As bowlers clinched a near-possible victory for Team India, Suryakumar Yadav's catch off David Miller at long-off was equally important.

With 16 runs needed off the last over, Miller smacked the ball almost over the line, but Suryakumar's acrobatic efforts didn't let the ball go past the fence for a maximum.

While discussing that important catch on the one-month anniversary of the historic triumph, the current Indian T20I captain said, "He never dreamt of taking such a grab in a World Cup final".

"This will stay with me forever because I have done such things in my practice sessions a lot, but I didn't think it will come at that moment, in the World Cup final, in that situation. I am very grateful for that, to be doing something special on a special occasion. But as you said, that will remain with me forever. It won't be a one-month challenge or a one-year challenge, it will be for lifetime," Suryakumar Yadav said in a video released by BCCI one month after India's T20 World Cup triumph.

After India's historic triumph, Suryakumar's life changed for good. He was made India's T20I skipper ahead of Hardik Pandya. The 33-year-old is currently in Sri Lanka with a full-fledged T20I side and has beaten the Lankan clean and square in the first two matches.

With the first two T20Is done and dusted, Surya's India will face Sri Lanka in the final T20I at Pallekele on Tuesday.
