'They Could've Been Dropped..,' CSK Pacer Lauds MS Dhoni For Backing Kohli, Rohit

At an event hosted by IISM, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India seamer Shardul Thakur shared insights on how MS Dhoni guided and supported Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during their tough times. 

He also discussed the valuable lessons he learned from his former CSK captain and legend, MS Dhoni.

Shardul played for CSK in IPL 2024 and has been part of the franchise for three seasons under Dhoni’s leadership. 

He emphasised Dhoni's role in nurturing talents and the positive impact of his guidance on his own career and those of other players.


Shardul Thakur Praised MS Dhoni's Legacy 

Shardul Thakur praised MS Dhoni's legacy, and highlighted how he supports players during their challenging times, which helps them become cricketing giants. 

He also appreciated Dhoni's role in nurturing and backing Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma when they were down and aided them in becoming legends in their own right.

"The legacy that he has left behind, three ICC Trophies, grooming so many youngsters. Even the current greats I would say Virat, and Rohit, everyone in their life had a time where they could have been dropped. But the great MS Dhoni backed them and what they did after 2012 onwards up until now," Thakur said.

MS Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three ICC white-ball trophies: the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Additionally, he led the Chennai Super Kings to five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 victories. 

The uncertainty surrounding his return for the next IPL season persists, as CSK await the BCCI's announcement of retention rules before making any decisions regarding his future.
