IND vs NZ: Rohit Sharma previews strategic tussle in World Cup semi-final against New Zealand

New Zealand has been a consistent challenge for India in ICC tournaments. They notably knocked India out in the semi-final of the World Cup 2019 and triumphed over them in the ICC World Test Championship final in 2021. With this history, the upcoming match is laden with anticipation and high expectations.

In preparation for this crucial semi-final, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed admiration for the New Zealand team during the pre-match press conference. He acknowledged their disciplined approach to the game and their ability to play smart cricket.

The 36-year-old noted that the Kiwis deeply understand their opposition's mentality, a trait India also possesses. He also remarked on New Zealand's consistency in reaching the semi-finals and finals of major tournaments since 2015, highlighting the challenge they pose.

“Whenever we have come up against New Zealand, probably the most disciplined team. They play their cricket very smartly. They understand the mentality of their oppositions so do we. They have been very consistent playing semis and finals from 2015 onwards. We do understand what they bring to the table,” said Rohit.

As the semi-final draws near, the focus is intensifying on the Indian team's strategy under Rohit's leadership. Observers are keenly awaiting to see how India will tackle the challenge posed by New Zealand. There is also growing curiosity about whether India can maintain its unbeaten streak in the tournament and create history by becoming the first team to win the World Cup twice on their home ground.
