Indian pacers have been sensational in World Cup 2023
India's pace attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, and spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have been a dominant force in the World Cup 2023, leaving opposing batsmen struggling to cope with their aggressive bowling.
Shastri commends India's bowling attack ahead of World Cup 2023 semi-final
Shami, with 16 wickets in four matches, and Bumrah, with 15 wickets from eight games, have been particularly impactful. Siraj has also made a significant contribution with 10 wickets to his name along with Jadeja who has claimed 14 wickets and Kuldeep with 12 scalps.
Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri expressed his admiration for the bowling lineup, considering it unparalleled in the last half-century of white-ball cricket. He attributed this success to the diversity and skill set of the bowlers.
According to Shastri, Bumrah's unique bowling style, Shami's expertise in seam position, and Siraj's aggressive approach make them a formidable trio. He also lauded Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav for reaching their peak form, adding that the team possesses the skills and experience to adapt to various conditions, a notable improvement since the last World Cup.
“It is the best attack that I have seen in 50 years, ever since white-ball cricket started. And it's all because of the variety. You have Bumrah who is a freak, then you have Shami who is a master when it comes to seam position and then Siraj, who is feisty, can get under your skin and is a slippery character. You also have Jadeja, who is at the peak of his prowess and Kuldeep, who has improved leaps and bounds. So when you look at that attack, it has every box ticked for every condition. They have the skillset and experience to adapt to every conditions and that is where they have improved since the last World Cup,” said Shastri.
India's bowling squad is set to display their skills again in the final league match against the Netherlands on Sunday. Their goal will be to maintain India's unbeaten streak as they prepare for the semi-final showdown against New Zealand.
