Former England captain Nasser Hussain stood in awe of India's mighty threatening bowling attack for their excellent run at the ICC World Cup 2023. Hussain, a veteran commentator, deemed it the "best Indian bowling unit I have ever seen", feeling mesmerised by the sheer dominance exhibited by ace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and his partners.

India have had the most rounded and devastating bowling attack in the marquee competition. Bumrah has been leading an incisive pace battery with Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj being his solid and dependable allies and spin twins Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja equally troubling the opposition line-ups.

Bumrah stands at the top of the charts amongst Indian bowlers with 17 scalps in the league stage followed by joint second-best Shami and Jadeja after 16 breakthroughs in the campaign. Youngsters Kuldeep and Siraj have been the two in-form support cast with 14 and 12 wickets, respectively.

Having nearly bagged all of the 90 scalps available, Bumrah & company have been extremely impactful and influential to India's remarkable winning juggernaut, featuring nine consecutive triumphs to storm into the knock-outs stage and setting up a marquee semifinal versus New Zealand in Mumbai.

Hussain Hails India's Bowling Attack

Speaking on Star Sports ahead of the much-anticipated semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday (November 15), Hussain lauded the pace trio of Bumrah, Shami, Siraj and spinners Jadeja and Kuldeep for their tremendous performances in the competition and for triggering multiple opposition collapses.

India famously dismissed Sri Lanka and South Africa for paltry scores of 55 and 83 all out during the league stage and are yet to concede a total in excess of 300, averaging short of 20 as a collective bowling unit while going for less than 5 runs an over.

''This present bowling unit is the best Indian bowling unit I have ever seen. There have been great (Indian) bowlers over time but as a unit (this is the best),'' Hussain said.

''If Bumrah does not get you, Siraj will. If Siraj does not get you, Shami will. If they don't get you, the two spinners will come in and they will get you out.''

''There used to be Fab 5 with the bat, this is the Fab 5 with the ball now,'' he added, comparing the magnitude of India's bowling display with the presence of legends Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag in their heyday.
