Will Virat Kohli Bowl In World Cup Semifinal Vs NZ? Rohit Sharma Reveals

Table-toppers India will take on New Zealand in the much-awaited semifinal of the ongoing World Cup. Led by Rohit Sharma, India have been clinical in the competition, recording nine consecutive wins in the league stage. On the contrary, the Kiwis had a roller-coaster ride in the league stage, managing five wins in nine appearances.

Talking about India, an untimely injury to Hardik Pandya forced them to go with six proper batters, limiting their bowling options to five in the remainder of the tournament. However, they proved that they have several part-timers in the XI, as the likes of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav, including skipper Rohit Sharma, rolled their arms in their final league-stage face-off against the Netherlands.

Ahead of the all-important semifinal, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed that they wanted to use the part-time bowlers from the first game. However, he clarified that although it's nice to have several bowling options, they don't want to be in a situation to use them.

"As soon as Hardik got injured, our combination changed. Ever since game number one, we wanted to use others to bowl as well. It's good to have options but I hope we will not have the situation to use it."

Therefore, if everything goes as per plans, we won't see Virat Kohli bowling in this match.

It will be India's second consecutive World Cup semifinal against the BlackCaps. In the previous edition, they couldn't chase a modest 240-run total, failing short of the target by 18 runs.
