Sunil Narine has yet again set the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) on fire this season with both bat and the ball just like his Caribbean friend, Andre Russell, taking Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the final. Russell, recently has also revealed trying to convince Narine to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

In a recent interview with Star Sports, the Jamaican all-rounder expressed his happiness for how Sunil Narine has batted and bowled this season.

"I'm so happy for Sunil to be honest. I think getting close to 500 runs is no joke, being a premier bowler that is going to look to bowl four overs and has 16 wickets under his belt in this season as well, that just goes to show the true all-roundership in him," Russell told Star Sports as quoted by PTI.

Also, he disclosed his attempts alongside Sherfane Rutherford to lure Sunil to play for the Caribbeans for one final tournament.

"Yeah, I definitely think so, I was trying to get in his head before the squad announced for like two weeks straight. [Sherfane] Rutherford and I tried to talk to him and say just for this World Cup, then you can retire and do whatever you want to do."

"Though he's the missing puzzle, I think he made his decision and I respect his decision as well, as a big man and as a player that do well. I think if he could change that decision the whole West Indies would be happy," the Jamaican big-hitter said.

Narine, in the 13 matches this season has scored 482 runs at a strike rate of 180, also scoring a century while also scoring 16 wicket. Andre Russell, on the other hand has scored 222 runs in 9 innings while striking at 185, also taking 16 wickets.
