Former India batting coach Vikram Rathour has opened up on India's painful defeat against Australia in the 2023 World Cup final.

The Men in Blue were the favourites to lift the title, as they were unbeaten till the finals. However, a billion hearts were broken in the final. The players broke down into tears, and the dressing room was serious.

Meanwhile, Vikram Rathour heaped praise on PM Narendra Modi, who visited the Indian side in the dressing room after the finals. Rathour stated that the players felt good after the interaction as the environment had turned serious.

“That’s something extraordinary. That’s what a real leader is. The dressing room was very serious after losing the final. Everybody was low and down and suddenly he walked in. At least, I didn’t know he was coming. So everybody stood up, and the way he spoke to the team and assured them that ‘You all played very well. It’s okay if you lost one game. We are all proud of you. That kind of message lifts you and it did. Everybody in the dressing room felt great,” Rathour told former domestic cricketer Taruvar Kohli on his YouTube channel.
