In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Monday, March 25, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced a challenging target of 177 runs set by Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Virat Kohli, the former RCB captain, played a pivotal role in securing a victory for his team with a remarkable 49-ball 77, including 11 fours and 2 sixes.

Despite being lucky earlier in the innings, dropped by Jonny Bairstow in the first over off Sam Curran, Kohli capitalised on this chance, striking four boundaries in the same over, indicating his aggressive intent from the get-go.

Renowned cricket commentator and former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra, praised Kohli's innings, especially lauding his shots against Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar.

Chopra expressed his admiration on his YouTube channel, stating, "Virat Kohli. How well he batted. He got a life on his second ball, Jonny Bairstow dropped a catch, and it went for a four. After that, he hit three more fours, four fours in the first over. When he hit Kagiso Rabada after stepping out, I said Kohli's bat was firing."

"The six he hit off Rahul Chahar's bowling over cover, what a shot. It was probably that six because of which the captain said that he wouldn't bowl him (Chahar) anymore. Rahul Chahar bowled just one over," Chopra added.

Kohli's innings was a spectacle of resilience and skill, highlighted by his 100th T20 half-century, which he reached in just 31 deliveries.

This innings marked Kohli's return to form, showcasing his skill and determination ahead of the T20 World Cup, where securing a spot is crucial for him.

RCB's next match is against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, March 29, at the same venue.
