'That Hug From Thala': Jadeja Reminisces Iconic MS Dhoni Moment After IPL 2023 Final

One of the most iconic and heartwarming moments from Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 was Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hugging Ravindra Jadeja after the latter helped the franchise win their fifth title hitting the winning runs.

Jadeja pulled CSK out of a ditch from a perilous spot against then-IPL champions Gujarat Titans in the final and ensured Dhoni his record-equalling fifth IPL trophy, which puts him on par with Rohit Sharma.

Ahead of the start of IPL 2024, Jadeja speaking to CSK's 'X' account, reminisced about what that brief moment when Dhoni lifted the all-rounder meant to him, where the duo embraced each other in a never-before-seen image.

" He (Dhoni) just stopped me and he lifted me. Yes, obviously this is one of my all-time favourite memories. I will never forget that hug from Thala. This will remain inside my heart forever. Love You, Thala. Cheers"

In the rain-curtailed encounter, CSK needed 10 off the final two balls of the match, where former captain Jadeja stood up, and slammed Mohit Sharma for a six and a four to notch up a memorable victory for himself and the franchise. 

Meanwhile, Dhoni will once again be back in action on March 22, and will take on arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their tournament opener in Chepauk.
