'Take A Picture, Post It In My House' - Shamar Joseph On Dismissing Smith

Shamar Joseph was delighted speaking about his memorable initiation to Test cricket for West Indies and said he would take a picture of him dismissing Australian legend Steve Smith first ball and "post it in my house".

Even as West Indies collapsed on yet another occasion in the red-ball format with a disappointing 188 all out, Joseph had a field outing on Day 1 of the Adelaide Test. The Caribbean No.11 first struck a priceless 36 off 41 balls and then made the biggest scalp of his life on the very first ball he delivered

Getting the ball to nip away, the right-arm quick had the great batter edging one to the third slip where fellow debutant Justin Greaves took a valiant diving catch in the ninth over of the Australian response. Smith, who would've hoped for a substantial start as Aussie's new Test opener, had Joseph raining on his parade.

Joseph also saw the back of Smith's potential successor Marnus Labuschagne to reignite West Indies' drowning hopes, but it was the wicket of the former Aussie skipper that warmed his heart the most, as he told the press after the stumps.

"Well I had a few conversations with the boys in the dressing room and I told them I would get a wicket first ball, but I didn't know it would be Steve Smith," Joseph said.

"So I went in with the positive mindset. You're coming up against the best team in Test cricket. So I just came up with a positive mindset and did what I knew best."

Joseph said he has never bagged a wicket as big as that of Smith in his lifetime and would cherish the moment for the rest of his career in West Indies colours.

"What was my best wicket? I don't think I have any better wicket than Steve Smith, to be fair (laughs). This is one of my favourite players. I really love Steve Smith."

"The way he plays and goes about his cricket. Getting him, I will remember this for the rest of my life. I'll actually go on take a picture and post it in my house," he added.

Joseph's spirited new-ball burst of 2 for 18 helped West Indies make a comeback in the contest with Australia finishing 59/2 by the close of play on Wednesday (January 17).
