New Zealand opener Finn Allen belted Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf's over for a jaw-dropping 27 runs on his way to a record-shattering century in the third T20I of the ongoing series in Dunedin on Wednesday (January 17).

The extravagant right-hander, who had played quick-fire knocks of 34 off 15 in Auckland and 74 off 41 balls in Hamilton, unleashed his full wrath on the hapless visitors on this occasion at the University Oval and hammered 137 off 62 balls in his team's third consecutive win of the series.

Allen used blitz in Rauf's over as springboard and jumped to bag the Kiwi record for the highest score in the shortest format. The 24-year-old surpassed former skipper Brendon McCullum and is now the numero uno individual score holder in New Zealand T20I history.

Another eye-catching record that the explosive batter pulled off during his knock was of becoming the joint-highest six-hitter in an innings in T20Is. The BlackCaps opener equalled the record held by Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai with his 16 maximums during the scintillating century.

Three of those maximums arrived in a dramatic over delivered by Rauf, whom Allen dispatched for 27 runs off his willow at the fag end of the powerplay in the New Zealand first-innings.

Hitting a six to start off the over, Allen put Rauf under great pressure, from which the pacer never recovered. One of Pakistan's key bowlers, he was then dispatched for a pair of fours and a pair of sixes, either of a wide sent between before taking a single to retain strike.

Rauf, who had a horrific outing, went for a shocking 60 runs off his four overs with two wickets as New Zealand rallied their way to a daunting 224/7 and managed to keep Pakistan down to 179/7, bagging an unassailable lead in the five-match series.
