Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has launched a scathing attack on the BCCI, accusing it of using patriotism as a tool for convenience. He made these statements following India's announcement of participation in an Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan.
Ignoring the demand of severing cricketing ties with Pakistan, the BCCI has agreed to host the Asia Cup 2025 at a neutral venue in the UAE. India and Pakistan have been grouped together in Group A.
The game will be played at a neutral venue, Dubai International Stadium, continuing the agreement between the two countries to only play each other at neutral sites till 2027.
Danish Kaneria Calls Out BCCI’s Dubious Stand On Pakistan
The decision followed a heavy backlash from fans and critics. Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria also took to social media, questioning how India is now willing to face Pakistan in the Asia Cup yet pulled out of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) clash against the same opponents just days earlier, citing national interest.

The highly anticipated WCL match between India Champions and Pakistan Champions, scheduled at Edgbaston on July 20, was called off after Indian players pulled out as protest.
Kaneria’s criticism has stirred debate, especially since the BCCI is hosting the Asia Cup. While India refused to travel to Pakistan for the event, both nations agreed to shift the tournament to the UAE.
India To Play Pakistan On September 14
That being said, India and Pakistan will renew their fierce cricket rivalry on September 14 in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2025, to be held in the UAE. This is the first of the potential 3 clashes between the two countries. According to the Asian Cricket Council’s arrangement with broadcasters, India and Pakistan will not only clash in the group stage but are also likely to face off again in the Super 4s and potentially in the final.
