Yashasvi Jaiswal, India’s explosive young opener, was dismissed on a 4-ball duck by Chris Woakes in the second inning of the Manchester Test. With a 311-run trail, the opener was undone by Woakes in the very first over and, as a result, had to face heat the internet.

India’s bowling unit once again appeared listless in the first session of Day 4 of the Manchester Test. Ben Stokes scored a hundred, and England were bowled out for 669 runs with a 311-run lead in hand.

With just a few overs left for lunch break, Indian openers Jaiswal and KL Rahul had to survive the new ball spell. However, Chris Woakes breathed fire in the very first over of the third inning.

In a dramatic moment, Chris Woakes dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a four-ball duck with the help of a juggling catch by Joe Root at first slip. Jaiswal, who had taken a middle and leg guard and shuffled across, tried to flick the ball but was squared up by the away movement.

The ball flew off the leading edge straight to Root, who initially fumbled but calmly completed the catch on the second attempt. It was a soft-handed effort that gave him enough time to recover, ending Jaiswal’s brief stay at the crease.

This is the second time Jaiswal has cracked under pressure in this series. In the Lord’s Test, he scored a duck while chasing 192 runs, and India eventually lost the game by a small margin of 22 runs.

Needless to say, fans came down heavily on Jaiswal. They criticised him for lacking the ability to absorb pressure. Many questioned his technique, game sense, and mental strength to endure tough moments.

"Yashasvi Jaiswal is not even a flat track Bully. He just has no technique, blindly hits the ball & survives purely on luck. He edged twice in the first innings of this match but survived. He is just not good enough for tests." - @VinayDokania

To add to the misery, Woakes also dismissed Sai Sudharsan on the very next ball for a golden duck, and India were 2 wickets down with nothing on the board. India headed into lunch at 1/2 with over 300 runs trail behind them.
