The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 player auctions are around the corner, with Abu Dhabi set to host the event on December 16. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be the teams to watch out for at the event, as they have the highest remaining purse, with ₹43.4 crores and ₹64.3 crores remaining, respectively.
Former Indian opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth has now urged CSK to go after the star New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said that Bracewell will bring good balance to the team. He added that everyone underestimates his abilities as an all-rounder.
"CSK already have a gun lineup till 4 with Gaikwad, Samson, Aayush Mhatre, and Urvil Patel. So they won't be too worried about their batting. If I were in the CSK management, I would go for a guy like Michael Bracewell. Everyone is underestimating him. He has scored a brilliant century against India in Hyderabad. He can bowl good off-spin and is a left-hander who can tonk the ball. He is a good finisher," said Srikkanth.
Srikkanth believes MS Dhoni can groom Bracewell into a match-winner
The 1983 World Cup winner added that everyone is vying for English all-rounder Liam Livingstone, and Bracewell is going unnoticed. He also believes the star Kiwi player will be groomed into a fantastic all-rounder under MS Dhoni’s guidance.
"Not many are talking about Michael Bracewell. Everyone keeps saying Livingstone, but the truth is, if Bracewell is encouraged, he'll do well. It is where someone like Dhoni can groom him into a fantastic all-rounder," he added.
The Men in Yellow have already traded out Ravindra Jadeja, leaving the all-rounder up for grabs. Michael Bracewell could easily fill those shoes if CSK decides to go after him. Bracewell has only played one season in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2023, where he scored 58 runs and took six wickets.
