Musheer Khan made headlines on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy match with his remarkable display of resilience and skill. Playing for India B, the 19-year-old batter scored an unbeaten 105 off 205 balls and was crucial in stabilising the team after a collapse that left them at 94/7.

The knock showcased his ability to handle challenging conditions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. His knock, which included ten fours and two sixes, helped India B reach 202/7 by stumps. 

Musheer Khan Reveals His Mantra Of Success  

In his post-day press conference, Musheer Khan emphasised the importance of focusing on each session and playing sensibly. 

He also credited Saini for providing confidence and support at the crease, which allowed them to build a solid partnership despite the pressure of falling wickets.

“I wanted to play as many balls as possible without thinking too much about runs. I wanted to bat the whole day, and I was taking it session by session. The ball was swinging and cutting when I came to bat. So, I was trying to play the ball as close to my body as possible, and was looking to avoid those risky shots. I knew runs would eventually come." Musheer told reporters at the post-day press meet.

Another highlight of his innings was his patient approach and the focus he maintained on batting through the day without worrying about the run rate. His partnership with Navdeep Saini, who contributed 29* to their 108-run stand, played a crucial role for India B a fighting chance.

“When wickets were falling at the other end, I told myself to play intelligently and look for a partnership. Then Saini bhai gave me a lot of confidence saying he will play whether it is two balls or six balls in an over, and just keep faith in him. He was also able to match my thinking and approach while batting. But generally, I was trying to defend the first three or four balls and then take a single,” he elaborated.

Another important factor that made Musheer Khan’s innings stand out and even more impressive was the way he handled the challenge posed by left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

It is important to mention that, five of his ten boundaries came off Kuldeep, which also included two powerful shots straight down the ground.

In the post-match conversation, Musheer credited the discussions with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant that have helped him to understand Kuldeep Yadav's deliveries. 

“This is the second time I am playing Kuldeep bhai. We have some experienced players in our side like Shubman bhai and Rishabh bhai who told me which of Kuldeep bhai’s balls will be effective and off which ones I can score runs. But once I got set, batting became easy on this wicket,” said Musheer.

He added that understanding which delivery was dangerous and which ones provided scoring opportunities became easier to understand after getting tips from senior players.
