KKR’s fast bowler Vaibhav Arora has ranked Ajinkya Rahane in the same category as Shreyas Iyer in terms of leadership skills. He stated that both players give equal freedom to bowlers, be it with game plan or field setting.

Kolkata Knight Riders won their third IPL title in 2024 under Iyer’s captaincy. However, he was mysteriously released from the squad at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

While PBKS bought Shreyas for INR 26.75 crore, KKR bagged Ajinkya Rahane for INR 1.5 crore and named him captain due to his experience in leadership.

Vaibhav Arora Ranks Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane’s Captaincy

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has fared well in captaincy in IPL 2025, as his team, PBKS, is ranked third on the points table. On the flip side, Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR has slipped to 7th place with slim hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.

However, KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora does not believe Rahane is better than Iyer in captaincy or vice versa, as he sees no big difference between the two.

"Both are good. Like, Shreyas is the same as Ajinkya Rahane. Like, whichever field we call, he shows the trust of the bowler. Like, if the bowler wants the field, he says, it's okay, whatever field you want, you can take it, don't worry about it. So, like, there is no difference between the two. Both are very supportive, and both trust the bowlers a lot. So, like, both are equally, I would say, perfect captains," Arora told ANI.

Ajinkya Rahane Gives Injury Update After Scare Vs DC

In a crucial match for KKR's playoff hopes, captain Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a quickfire 26 off 14 balls before an unfortunate injury forced him off the field. The incident happened during the second inning when Rahane injured his fingers while trying to stop a shot from Faf du Plessis.

The ball slipped through his hands, causing a painful blow and heavy bleeding. Rahane had to walk off with the physio and didn’t return for the rest of the match. Sunil Narine stepped in as the stand-in captain. However, despite the setback, Rahane has assured the fans of a comeback in the next game as he feels his injury is not serious.
