Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced their third consecutive defeat in the IPL 2024 as they lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by 19 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 14.

Winning the toss, LSG opted to bowl, but DC managed to set a challenging target of 208 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, LSG finished on 189/9, with Arshad Khan remaining not out on 58 off 33 balls.

KL Rahul Reflects On Defeat Vs DC

Reflecting on the loss, LSG skipper KL Rahul expressed his disappointment, stating,

"I feel like the wickets remain pretty similar throughout the 40 overs. Yeah, when we got Jake out in the first over, we thought that we started off really well and we should have capitalized from there. But, yeah, that's how this season has been—where the players just keep coming. Even when wickets are falling, they just keep coming hard."

He highlighted the missed opportunity early in the game when they got Jake Fraser-McGurk out in the first over but failed to capitalize on it. Despite efforts to keep the momentum, LSG struggled to contain DC's aggressive batting.

"I think they showed a lot of intent. Shai Hope and Abhishek Porel, when they batted, they just took the momentum away from us a little bit. And then I think we did pretty well at the back end as well. I believe 200 was a par score, and we should have chased it down."

Looking ahead, LSG will face Mumbai Indians in their last league game on May 17 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, Rahul emphasised the importance of securing a win in their upcoming match.
