The Delhi Capitals are playing against the Lucknow Super Giants in the 64th match of IPL 2024. The Super Giants won the toss and opted to field first. 

The Capitals made a couple of changes for this game. After getting a chance in the previous match, David Warner was dropped for this game. Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel opened the innings for the Capitals. 

KL Rahul's masterplan

The Lucknow Super Giants handed the ball to Arshad Khan to start the proceedings. The left-arm seamer began with a couple of wides. Jake Fraser-McGurk went for a wild swing across the line on the third delivery and missed the ball. 

Arshad went for another length ball at the off-stump line in the next ball. McGurk was instinctive in going through the line and lofting the ball towards long-on. This is where the captaincy brilliance of KL Rahul was noticed. He had placed a long-on for McGurk, where Naveen-ul-Haq caught him easily. In retrospect, it looked like a well-laid plan, and the wicket could be handed to the captaincy of KL Rahul. 

This was a body blow for the Capitals, as Jake McGurk has been instrumental in giving some blazing starts to the team. Before this match, McGurk had scored 330 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 237.41. His wicket early in the innings might stun the progress of the home team.
