Afghanistan and South Africa are taking part in the 3rd and the final ODI of the series on Sunday, and ahead of the game, the Afghans suffered a major blow.  Their star player and one of the best spinners in the world, Rashid Khan was ruled out of the game due to an injury.

The Afghan leg-spinner suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI match, and the injury worsen as the Afghanistan team are not taking any unnecessary risk.

Rashid hurt his hamstring early in the match, but he kept on going and pushed his body to its limit, and the consequences were that he has been put on the sidelines for this contest.

The issue resurfaced when he came out to bat in the 47th over of the game. He ran a couple of runs and immediately felt the discomfort as the physio came in to check on him. Interestingly, with Afghanistan leading the series 1-0, the Afghans had a golden opportunity to seal the series, and as a result, Rashid came back on the field in the second innings and contributed with the ball, which aggravated his injury.

Afghanistan have golden opportunity to whitewash South Africa

The Afghans landed the first blow in the opening ODI. In a shocking tale, South Africa got bundled out for a mere 106, and the Afghan batters had a cakewalk while chasing down the total as they won by 6-wickets.

In the second match, Afghanistan scored 311, courtesy of a brilliant hundred from Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The target was a bit too much for the Proteas who got knocked out for just 134.

With an unassailable 2-0 lead in the bag, the Afghanistan side have a great chance to inflict a series whitewash over a Test playing nation.
