Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has heaped praise on Rohit Sharma for his exceptional leadership attributes. Under Rohit's astute captaincy, India enjoyed stellar success in the T20 World Cup 2024, breaking their ten-year ICC trophy drought on Caribbean soil.

India showcased remarkable form with bat and ball, entering the final as an unbeaten side. They were clinical in the group stage, securing thumping wins over every opponent, including their arch-rivals, Pakistan. They were even better in the next round, swatting aside teams like Australia and England without breaking a sweat.

The Men in Blue's dedication and hard work didn't go in vain, as they eventually lifted the elusive title after a long hiatus. Shikhar Dhawan hailed Rohit Sharma for his inspirational captaincy in the showpiece event.

"He's a great captain, and I am so happy that he led the team and won the World Cup for our nation. We were waiting for that World Cup for a long time. We were very close in (winning) the ODI World Cup as well, and now we achieved that goal in T20Is," Dhawan said.

He further shed light on Rohit's bonding with the Indian players and highlighted his leadership contributions to the team.

"He's a very experienced captain, and I'm sure all the boys love him as a leader and he has done a phenomenal job for the Indian team," the southpaw added.

Dhawan's Partnership With Rohit On And Off The Field

Together they stitched several memorable stands to help India script numerous historic wins in the 50-over format. The legendary batters share a great friendly bond and hold each other's back in tough times. Regarding Dhawan, the southpaw recently announced his retirement from cricket. Meanwhile, Rohit continues to lead India in the longer formats.
