For the second matchup of the BPL 2024 season’s Tuesday doubleheader, defending champions Comilla Victorians will square off with Fortune Barishal at Shere Bangla Stadium from 6.00 PM IST onwards.

Comilla Victorians kicked off their campaign to defend the BPL title on a losing note. The team lost the season opener to a rebranded Durdanto Dhaka as the batters let them down and failed to put up a decent score in the first innings.
After captain Litton Das perished to Chaturanga de Silva in the powerplay, Imrul Kayes and Towhid Hridoy built up a sturdy 100-run partnership. However, the duo’s efforts were not good enough for a T20 game. As a result, the Victorians set a low target of 143 runs, which was, needless to say, a below-par score.
Having said that, Tanvir Islam and Mustafizur Rahman emerged as big positives as they were clinical with the ball. The bowling unit forced the chase until the last over, which was the only positive of the game for the defending champions.
Hopefully, the Victorians will figure out the shortcomings in the batter department before they face Fortune Barishal on Tuesday.
Fortune Barishal
Fortune Barishal kicked off the new season campaign with a comprehensive win against the Rangpur Riders. But unfortunately, the former lost to Khulna Tigers on Monday despite putting up a decent target in the first inning.
Mushfique Rahim’s knock of 68 runs off 39 deliveries guided Barishal to an above-par target of 187 runs.
However, Evin Lewis’ carnage in the chase took the game away from Fortune Barishal. Anamul Haque 63(44), Evin Lewis 53(22), Afif Hossain 41(36), and Shai Hope 25(10) contributed equally with the ball to guide Khulna Tigers home under 18 overs.
That being said, Tamim Iqbal more or less panicked in the chase as he used as many as seven bowlers to somehow halt the run-fest.
Regardless, the Fortune Barishal needs to gather themselves as they faced Comilla Victorians on Tuesday.
