As India and Pakistan brace themselves for the intense encounter of World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, all eyes are on the historic record: India's unbeaten streak of 7-0 against Pakistan in ODI World Cup matches. But Pakistan captain, Babar Azam seems unperturbed by past records.

IND vs PAK: Babar hopes for Pakistan's day in the sun

Opening up on India’s unblemished record, Babar brushed aside the weight of history and highlighted the significance of the present. He mentioned that while the unbeaten streak is in the past, every game brings a fresh start, expressing hope that Pakistan could change the narrative this time around.

"I don't focus on the records or the past. Our team has been doing well. This kind of record is meant to be broken. Hope it happens tomorrow," said Babar.

The India vs Pakistan match has always been characterized by heightened emotions and pressure, often termed as one of the most thrilling encounters in the cricketing world.

With the Narendra Modi Stadium filled with over 100,000 fans ardently supporting the Indian team, one might expect the Pakistan squad to feel the heat.

However, Azam brushed off such concerns. He highlighted that many in his team have previously faced India and are familiar with the charged atmosphere. Instead, he jestingly pointed out that the real pressure he's facing is the relentless demand for match tickets.

Drawing from his own experiences, Azam acknowledged that debut matches against India can be nerve-wracking. He stressed the role of seasoned players in guiding the younger ones through the whirlwind of emotions, simplifying the mantra to focusing on the ball and playing their natural game.

"No such pressure... but lot of pressure for tickets. Lot of people calling and asking for tickets. Handling pressure comes with experience. When I played the India vs Pakistan match for the first time, I was under pressure. The job of senior players is to give the right message to youngsters. No need to think more, watch the ball and play the ball,” added the Pakistan skipper.
