India’s batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has recently delivered some of the greatest performances witnessed in red ball cricket. After delivering back-to-back double century for India during England’s tour of India, Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved many milestones, one of them being held by the former Pakistan’s pacer Wasim Akram.

In the 2nd Test at Rajkot, he hammered 214 in the second innings  and became the second batsman to smash 12 maximum hits in an innings.

A record which is previously held by Wasim Akram who hit 12 sixes against Zimbabwe in Sheikhpura during his 257 runs knock in 1996. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 214 runs off 236 deliveries as he hit 12 sixes across the park in the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.

Recently while talking to A Sports, Akram recalled his knock and admitted how difficult it gets to hit boundaries in Test Cricket especially in such difficult situations.

Wasim Akram Highlights the importance of knock irrespective of the opponent side

The former pacer playfully discussed how Yashasvi Jaiswal has managed to equalize his record and not break it. Further Akram also talked about how people tell him the knock would have been easier considering Pakistan was facing Zimbabwe, he said,

"My record (most sixes in an innings) wasn't broken, it's been equalled by Yashasvi Jaiswal. People talk a lot that it was Zimbabwe, but it wasn't that easy. I remember we were around 170/6 when I went to bat."

Further while talking about working hard as a cricketer in a country like India or even Pakistan where the players have to face immense competition, Akram discussed,

"In India, when you grow up, you work really hard for each and everything. Even when getting the bus you have to work really hard to get on the bus. You have to work really hard to get to the train and auto and everything and I have done that since my childhood and I know how important every innings is and that's why I work hard in my [practice] sessions and every innings counts for me and my team."

Yashasvi Jaiswal will next be seen in the fourth Test match of England’s tour of India in Ranchi from 23rd February.
