The 2025 edition of IPL 2025 turned out to be a historic one as, after a long wait, Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted the trophy. The franchise enjoys a great fan following, and a win for RCB created a huge buzz around the country.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was one of the key figures of RCB's winning campaign. It was his first year with the franchise, and the bowler gelled with other players beautifully to carve out a memorable path. Now, in a podcast called Talk with Manvendra, the pacer opened up on Rajat Patidar as captain and how RCB managed to win their IPL title.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Credits RCB's Teamwork For IPL 2025 Success
Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that as the team was quite experienced, a lot was not needed from the captain. However, he credited Rajat Patidar for making decisions when needed without hesitation. Thus, he called Rajat Patidar a good leader who knows when to interfere and when not.
“The best part was that since it was such an experienced team, Rajat didn’t have to do much. Where leadership was needed, he took decisions without hesitation. That’s a quality, knowing when to step in and when to let things be," Bhuvneshwar Kumar said in the podcast called Talk with Manvendra.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar then added that different players stepped up in varied situations in IPL 2025 for RCB, which helped their cause. He added that one cannot win a tournament if the team relies on one or two players. For RCB, almost everyone performed, and it ultimately helped them win the title.
“This time, the biggest difference was that all players in the XI won matches at different times, in different situations. You can’t win a big tournament relying on just one or two players. Bowlers stepped up in some games, batters in others. In every stage, a new player emerged to win it for us".
Thus, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has emphasised how RCB clicked as a unit in IPL 2025, and it turned out to be a game-changer. The bowler himself picked 17 wickets in the season and would be looking to continue his form in the upcoming seasons as well.
